Electives Observership Local & Foreign

Rashid Latif Medical College (RLMC) encourages students to undertake research/Clinical electives nationally and internationally in coordination with Career Counseling Cell. Medical students can participate in this special (optional) activity to gain experience in healthcare delivery and training outside of their home institution in a location and profession of interest, the student contemplates working in the future, or for a variety of other reasons. Placements overseas give employees a lifetime of exposure to diverse practices, increasing their perspectives on the socioeconomic issues that influence healthcare in developing nations. . The student plans his or her placement, travel, and accommodations independently for electives.

Objectives:

RLMC encourages its students to choose electives both domestically and overseas.
Diversify the medical training for internal/ external students.
Provide a forum for the students of RLMC to learn from national/international specialists of different fields.
To encourage the students to research and gather data so they can develop their skills, set objectives, and take the necessary job-related steps.

Implementation of the policy:

Chairperson: Principal
Co-Chairperson: Vice Principal
Members: HOD of the relevant Academic year.
Members: Career Counseling Cell (CCC)

Eligibility criteria:

Only students who belong to an accredited PM&DC recognized institute with a minimum of two years of clinical exposure will be entertained.
An official letter from the parent institute will be required.
Electives will be available to full time students with good academic standing.
He/she must have at least 80% attendance in all classes throughout the course of an academic year and academic performance of at least 50% in order to take an elective during an academic session other than summer break.
Students of 3rd year and above will be eligible to apply for Electives ( domestic & international
The elective should ideally be chosen by students while on summer break.

Procedure for Electives at RLMC

Student should apply 2 months before the start of his/her elective.
Duration of Electives should not overlap with Term exams, Send-up exams & UHS Professional exams.
RLMC advises students to opt for minimum of 02 weeks and maximum of 04 weeks of Clinical Electives/Clinical Clerkships or Research electives, in order to fulfill overall attendance requirements by UHS. .
Rashid Latif Medical College will only assist students in documentation process required for Electives but does not take any financial responsibility for the national and international electives that students undertake.
Students take care of their own boarding, and living expenses as well as any other monetary requirement by the hosting institution.
