The INSPIRE Program is a flagship initiative of Rashid Latif Medical College
(RLMC) under the umbrella of the Student Empowerment Program. Designed
for 1st and 2nd-year MBBS students, INSPIRE seeks to engage students in
meaningful community service and institutional support roles, integrating
professional values and real-world experiences early in their medical journey.
This manual outlines the structure, objectives, components, and benefits of the
program, serving as a guide for students, mentors, and coordinators.
Objectives:
The objective of INSPIRE is to provide foundation year medical students with
structured opportunities to:
Engage in community service.
Participate in 100 hours of support roles within RLMC and its affiliated hospital.
These engagements will instill the institution’s core values by offering students
practical exposure to the challenges and rewards of healthcare service beyond
academics.
Institutional Core Values
1. Duration:
Spread across the first two years of MBBS.
Total: 200 hours (100 hours Community Service + 100 hours Support Roles).
2. Community Service Placements:
Locations: Community schools, BHUs, maternity centers.
Supervised by the Department of Community Medicine.
3. Support Role Rotations:
Students will rotate through roles including:
Admin Work: Data entry, scheduling, document support.
Patient Facilitation: Assisting and guiding patients.
Store Management: Inventory handling in departments.
Medical Camps: Organizing and assisting in community outreach.
Waste Management: Promoting cleanliness and sustainability.
Safety and Security: Supporting hospital safety protocols.
Additional roles based on institutional needs.
4. Time Commitment:
Hours to be completed outside of regular academic schedules.
5. Coordination & Supervision:
Oversight by faculty and designated program coordinators.
Continuous mentorship and tracking of student progress.

Each student will maintain an INSPIRE logbook, which will include:

Attendance records.
Logbooks must be submitted at the end of each academic year for evaluation.
